Srinagar,10 Jan : The Jammu and Kashmir Wildlife department on Tuesday captured a leopard alive from Chitragam area of South Kashmir’s Shopian district.

An official from the Wildlife department told The Kashmir Scroll that they received information early in the morning that a leopard has been spotted in the orchards of Dragad Chitragam following which they sent their teams to capture the leopard.

He said that the leopard was roaming in the area, which threatens the lives of people and their livestock.

He said that immediately after receiving the information, the leopard was captured alive without any damage or injury.

Locals who were panicking due to the movement of leopard in the area have heaved a sigh of relief after it was captured.—(KS)
