Masoodi demands regularisation of daily wagers and pay parity for Home Guards

Srinagar, Sep 24: National Conference Member parliament from south Kashmir on Thursday has demanded immediate regularisation of daily wagers and pay parity to home guards.
according to a statement issued to KNS, Hasnain Masoodi has demanded regularisation of more than sixty thousand daily wages, casual and contract workers of Jammu and Kashmir denied the timely release of wages and awaiting regularisation for more than a decade. He has stated that though the daily wagers, casual workers, and contract workers form the backbone of key departments like PDD, Forest, Wildlife, Social Welfare, and other departments and render valuable service to the public, yet justice is not being done to the most important segment of the workforce.
Masoodi met Santosh Kumar Gagwar Minister for Labour and Employment and requested him to intervene in the matter and exhort the JK administration to expedite the release of all pending wages and much-delayed regularisation. The meeting took place against the backdrop of the Wages Code brought to ameliorate a lot of the workforce in the country.
he also met Reddy Minister of State Home Affairs and raised the issue of disparity in pay faced by the Home Guards serving in Jammu and Kashmir. He expressed anguish that while Home Guards serving in JK performed the same duties as were performed by their counterparts in other parts of the country they are paid much less than what is paid to their counterparts, in utter disregard to the principle of “ equal pay for equal work”. He demanded immediate redressal of grievances of agitating Home Guards and fulfillment their genuine demands. (KNS)
