Srinagar, March 30 (GNS): Police on Tuesday registered a case against two consultancies for cheating some gullible youth on the pretext of providing them a job in Malaysia.

“On March 26, Police Station Pattan received a complaint forwarded by Judicial Magistrate Pattan with the direction to register FIR against the owners of M/s Krishna Placement Consultancy, Gangyal Jammu run by Popinder Singh son of Jagdish Sing of Golden Lane, Gangyal Jammu and Shoaib Rahi of Tapper Pattan C/o Advisory Consultancy, Hayderbeigh Pattan,” a police official told GNS.

The complainants had alleged that the accused persons received an amount of Rs 6,40,000 (Rs. 80,000 per candidate) with the promise that they will provide them a job in Malaysia.

“After joining the private companies in Malaysia, they were thrown out of the jobs after some time saying that their visas are tourist visas and are not valid for working as promised by the consultancies,” the official said, adding, “After their return, they approached the consultancies who in turn have threatened them with dire consequences if they would disclose the matter.”

Accordingly, Police Station Pattan has registered a case (FIR No 53/2021) under section 420 IPC for cheating unemployed youths of different areas of District Baramulla. “Investigation has been started in the matter,” the official added. (GNS)
