Nidae KashmirBandipora, Sept 6 : Two persons drowned in Wular Lake at Banyari area of Sumbal in Bandipora district on Saturday.
Officials said the incident occurred when the duo entered the lake and did not return. Following the reports, police teams from Bandipora rushed to the site to carry out immediate rescue efforts.
Authorities have also alerted the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), which has been dispatched to the location to assist in the search and retrieval operation.
Notably, the water level on Wular Lake, one of Asia’s largest freshwater bodies, is on the rise.
Further details about the identity of the drowned persons were awaited when this report was filed.
