The NSS units of the college, in collaboration with the Department of Environmental Sciences, organized a symposium on the theme of ‘Beat Plastic Pollution.’ Presided over by the esteemed Principal of the college, Prof (Dr) Shamim Ahmed Azad, the program witnessed a significant turnout of students and faculty members.
During the symposium, five students, namely Ms. Diksha Goswami, Ms. Parul Sharma, Ms. Diksha Koul, Ms. Rukhshanda of (students of MSc Chemistry), and Mr. Mushtaq Ahmed (MA Urdu), delivered speeches on the occasion. As a token of recognition, the participants were presented with certificates by Principal Prof (Dr) Shamim Ahmed Azad. In his presidential address, Dr. Azad emphasized the importance of adopting an eco-friendly lifestyle.
Dr. Naseem Ahmed, the NSS Program Officer, delivered the welcome address, underscoring the significance of organizing such events. Dr. Junaid Jazib, Head of the Environmental Science Department, coordinated the function and urged the audience to contribute in any way possible to protect the planet and the life on it. Expressing gratitude, Prof Supriya, the NSS (Girls) Program Officer, delivered the vote of thanks. Notable attendees included Dr. Junaid Ahmed, Dr. Pratima Bhushan, Dr. Ishfaq Gul of Department of Environmental Sciences and others.
It is worth mentioning that this event was part of a series of programs organized to commemorate World Environment Day 2023 under Mission LiFE. The activities being organized since last week include quiz contests, awareness programs, cleanliness drives, pledge-taking, and various other initiatives aimed at fostering environmental consciousness and sustainable living.
