Prof. Rehman Rahi, a Gayanpeth prize winner and the finest poet in Kashmir, has passed away. He passed away in the early hours of the morning at his Vicharnag home in Srinagar. He was about 98. Rahi is a living legend who has made enormous contributions to Kashmiri language and poetry. He has written or translated almost a dozen volumes, served as a mentor to hundreds of scholars, and mentored many more. He received practically every honour for his contributions to the language.
