JAMMU NOV 08: Gharota Police has arrested a notorious land grabber-cum-sarpanch under Public Safety Act (PSA). As per police sources, in ongoing drive against land encroachment and illegal mining in Akhnoor Police Sub Division, a team from Gharota Police Station led by SHO Inspector Mahesh Sharma arrested a notorious land grabber under PSA, pursuant to a detention order issued by the District Magistrate Jammu. The arrested person has been identified as Prabhaker Singh alias Showki (Sarpanch), son of late Lakhan Singh of Kot Tehsil Bhalwal District Jammu. He was a habitual offender with several criminal cases registered against him. He was also involved in land grabbing and several cases registered under FIR Numbers 25/2020, 38/2019, 65/2018, 20/2013, 48/2007 and 21/2005 with Police Station Gharota. A team headed by SHO Gharota Mahesh Sharma under the supervision of SDPO Akhnoor Varun Jandial, SP Rural Jammu Sanjay Sharma and SSP Jammu Shridhar Patil arrested the accused under PSA and detained him in Kot Bhalwal Jail. Police have warned that stern action will be taken against those resorting to illegal mining, encroachments and other unlawful activities.
