Handwara, Nov 24: A minor boy (name with held) from Mawer area of Handwara in north Kashmir’s Kupwara district on Monday attempted to end his life by consuming some poisonous substance at his home after being allegedly sexually harassed by a private school teacher here.
The family of the minor boy told KNS over phone that he was sexually harassed by a school teacher for over a month and yesterday he consumed some poisonous substances to get rid off of the abuse.
He added soon after the incident, he was taken to nearby hospital but after his condition deteriorated he was shifted to Srinagar hospital for treatment where his condition is stated to be stable.
The family demanded strict action against the accused person and said the teachers is considered a spiritual father of students.
Meanwhile, civil society members expressed deep shock and anger against the heinous crime committed by a private school teacher and appealed Handwara Police to take stern action against the involved person.
An official told KNS that the accused has been taken into custody and investigation set into motion. (KNS)
