SOPORE: Chairperson District Development Council (DDC) Baramulla, Safina Baig, accompanied by DDC Members and ADC Sopore Shabir Ahmad Raina, visited Sopore to inspect the Sub-District Hospital (SDH) Sopore. The visit aimed to assess the facilities and services provided at the hospital, ensuring healthcare needs of the local population are met properly.
During the inspection, Safina Baig reviewed the hospital’s infrastructure, medical equipment and patient care services.
She interacted with patients and their attendants, gathering feedback and understanding their concerns. Safina assured them that their issues would be addressed and improvements would be made to ensure better healthcare delivery.
The Block Medical Officer (BMO), Dr Zulfikar Nabi, briefed the DDC Chairperson about the urgent need for a radiologist and a female ECG technician at SDH Sopore.
He emphasized that these professionals are critical to enhancing diagnostic services at the hospital. Chairperson Safina Baig assured the BMO that the issue would be prioritized, and efforts would be made to address the staffing requirements promptly.
Earlier, Chairperson District Development Council (DDC) Baramulla, Safina Baig, chaired a meeting to review the ongoing developmental works in sub Division Sopore.
The visit focused on assessing the progress of various initiatives and ensuring timely completion to benefit the local community.
During the visit, Safina emphasized the need for improved coordination among different departments to ensure effective service delivery.
She stressed the importance of timely completion of ongoing works to ensure that residents experience the full benefits of these projects.
The DDC Chairperson also inquired about the progress of the AMRUT (Atal Mission for Rejuvenation and Urban Transformation) scheme.
The Executive Engineer of the Jal Shakti Department (JSD) briefed her, stating that the tendering process is currently in progress.
He further highlighted that a total budget of Rs 67 crore has been allocated to improve drinking water facilities and meet the needs of the entire Sopore town.
In addition, Safina directed all executive agencies to ensure that boards are erected at all developmental work sites, so the public is informed about the ongoing projects and their benefits.
Safina also expressed her commitment for making sure that all developmental works are executed efficiently and are aligned with the needs of the people of Sopore.
The review included discussions on several key areas of development, with a focus on improving infrastructure, public services, and overall quality of life for residents.
Meeting was attended by District Development Council Members, Additional Deputy Commissioner Sopore SA Raina, officers from line departments, Engineers and other stakeholders.
