‘Will follow set guidelines in spirit, Govt shouldn’t make hue and cry over the second wave’

Srinagar, Mar 31 (KNO): The hoteliers on Wednesday said that the government must not make hue and cry over the re-surge in the COVID-19 cases, saying that the virus is there last more than a year now and can be combated by following Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) properly.

Addressing a news conference here, the hoteliers association headed by its president Mushtaq Ahmad Chaya, said that the hoteliers will ensure strict adherence to the COVID guidelines to prevent the virus from spreading.

“We have been already following the SOPs in spirit and we will cooperate with the government in preventing the virus from spreading,” Chaya said, as per news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO)

However, he said that there is a need not to make hue and cry over the re-surge in the cases as the situation in Kashmir is not too bad. “The situation is still not bad. There is a need to follow the SOPs and other COVID guidelines in spirit. The vaccine is already there and we must have to prevent the cases by following SOPs,” he said.

The hoteliers also stated that only preventive measures like following SOPs can help in preventing the virus from spreading, adding that the government must not go for a lockdown again as it will have an adverse effect on the tourism sector yet again at a time when the tourist influx is increasing—(KNO)
