2 LET Militants killed in Sirhama gunfight

Anantnag Sept 25: “2 militants were killed in an overnight encounter with the government forces in Sirhama village of Bejhbehera Sub-division of South Kashmir’s Anantnag district on Thursday” a police official confirmed it to CNS.

The slain militants have been identified as Adil Bhat of Kakapora, Puwlama, and the second one a Pakistani militant.

Meanwhile, it is pertinent to mention that a Gunfight broke out between militants and government forces in Sirhama village of Bejhbehera Thursday. The encounter broke out when a joint team of Police, Army, and CRPF launched a Cordon and Search Operation (CASO) in the area.
As the joint team surrounded the suspected spot, the hiding militants fired upon them.

The fire was retaliated by the joint team, leading to an encounter. The gunfight continued for about 13 hours. The house of M.Ashraf Naikoo, S/O: M. Akbar Naikoo was blasted and raised to the ground.

A senior police officer confirmed it to CNS the exchange of fire stopped around 9 am but the search operation is still going on, while as all entry and exit points leading to the area have been sealed. (CNS)
