Awareness programme on “World Tribal Day”

Pulwama, August 09:

In compliance to the directions of JK Legal Services Authority, District Legal Services Authority Pulwama under the Chairmanship of Mr. Malik Shabir Ahmad, Chairman District Legal Services Authority (Pr.District & Sessions Judge), Pulwama and under the supervision of Mr. Mudasar Farooq Secretary DLSA Pulwama today organized an awareness programme on “World Tribal Day” in collaboration with Government Education Department Pulwama. The programme was organized at Government Middle School Aditrag Sangarwani.

On the occasion Mr. Mehraj-ud-din Wani Chief LADC Pulwama from DLSA Pulwama gave special address to the participants and educated the tribal people about their constitutional and legal rights. The participants belonging to the tribal community were made aware of the Scheduled Tribes and other Traditional Forest Dwellers (Recognition of Forest Rights) Act 2006, the Schedule Caste and Schedule Tribes Prevention of Atrocities Act, 1989, PESA Act 1966, The Right to Fair Compensation and Transparency in Land Acquisition, Rehabilitation and Resettlement Act 2013 and NALSA (Protection and Enforcement of Tribal Rights Scheme ) 2015. This day also serves as an occasion to highlight the importance of preserving tribal heritage, promoting their rights, and ensuring their active participation in the nation’s development.

Furthermore, Dy. Chief LADC along with Asst. LADCs Pulwama also spoke on the event and told the participants to create a supportive, and equitable society where tribal communities can able to fully exercise their rights, preserve their unique cultures, and thrive economically and socially without the threat of exploitation or cultural erasure. By fostering a deeper understanding of the value of tribal heritage and the importance of protecting their rights, these programs aim to create lasting positive change for tribal communities both at the local and global levels.

Moreover similar programme was also organized at TLSC Tral in collaboration with Government High School, Batnoor Tral in which Mr. Adil Saleem Bandh Dy. Chief LADC Pulwama along with Asst.LADC Pulwama & Panel Lawyers from DLSA Pulwama also spoke on the occasion and stated that the people of tribal community have been playing a vital role for the development of UT of J&K and the tribal people are important asset of the UT of J&K. The tribal people have unique culture and customs and that needs to be preserved. The tribals live in complete harmony with nature and they never destroy or pollute environment we should learn from them.

Staff members of DLSA Pulwama, TLSC Tral and PLVs also participated in the said programmes.
