GANDERBAL 26Th, JUNE 2025: Ganderbal Police organised International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking, as part of series of awareness and outreach programmes across the district to reaffirm its commitment towards a drug-free society and to sensitize the public, especially the youth, about the devastating impact of drug abuse.
A series of Drug Awareness events were organised at Manasbal Park, Hyderia Model School Tulamulla, Sadat Valley Educational Institute Wakura and Sakhi Akbar School Gutlibagh falling in the jurisdiction of PS Safapora, PS Kheerbawani, PP Shadipora and PP Gutlibagh, echoing the global call to action for a united response to combat drug abuse through awareness, education, and strong community policing.
Police Officers, civil society members, students, and members from different walks of life participated in the event. The programme included awareness lectures and a pledge ceremony where participants vowed to stand united against the Drug Menace.
Speaking on the occasion, senior officers Police, respectable citizens and youth emphasized the importance of collective responsibility in combating drug abuse and urged parents, teachers, and community leaders to play a proactive role in identifying and helping individuals at risk. They highlighted the ongoing efforts of Ganderbal Police in identifying drug peddlers, cracking down on drug trafficking networks, and rehabilitating addicts through counseling and legal support.
Those who don’t mend their ways shall be strictly dealt as per law.
Ganderbal Police reiterates its zero-tolerance policy towards drugs and appeals to the public to cooperate in eradicating this severe social evil by reporting any suspicious activity related to drugs with District Police.
