A 32-year-old man was sentenced to 20 years in jail by a special court in Mumbai on Wednesday for sexually abusing a young girl on the guise of marriage.
The victim’s sister and her husband were also given a 20-year prison sentence for aiding and abetting the case by leaving the girl with the accused after being paid Rs 2 lakh to bring the minor to him, according to the court established under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offenses Act (POCSO Act).
In accordance with pertinent sections of the POCSO Act and the Indian Penal Code (IPC), special judge S. C. Jadhav found the defendant guilty.
According to the prosecution, the main accused was supposed to provide the victim’s cousin sister and her husband some money following his marriage to the young lady.
The mother of the victim said that the principal accused was seeking a suitable girl for marriage and that she had been informed by her niece’s husband.
According to the complainant (the victim’s mother), the victim’s sister and her husband brought the girl to the primary accused’s home in Mumbai on August 2, 2020, and left her there.
According to the prosecution, the main suspect afterwards sexually molested the little girl.
The victim phoned her mother the next morning and described her incident; as a result, a police report was filed, it continued.
