BANDIPORA, JULY 30: District Pencak Silat championship 2025 was inaugurated today at Army Goodwill School, Bandipora, by Deputy Commissioner (DC) Bandipora, Manzoor Ahmad Qadri.
Over 250 young athletes from various schools and clubs across the district are participating in the event.
Speaking on the occasion, DC highlighted the vibrant sporting culture of the district, noting that it consistently nurtures talent that excels at higher levels.
It was informed that the championship also serves as an official selection platform for the upcoming State-Level Pencak Silat Championship.
A pledge ceremony under the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan was also held to promote sports and a drug-free society.
The inaugural function was attended by several dignitaries, including Padma Shri awardee Faisal Ali Dar, Second-in-Command 14RR Major Vehbas Dubey, Vice President of the District Sports Advisory Board, and Principal of Army Goodwill School besides others.
