PHE Issues Advisory as Rains Disrupt Water Supply in Srinagar

Srinagar, Sep 6 : The Public Health Engineering (PHE) Department issued an advisory warning of disruption in drinking water supply in several areas of Srinagar due to high turbidity in raw water sources following incessant rains.

According to the Executive Engineer, Water Works Division Srinagar, enormous sediment load in Nallah Doodhganga, River Jhelum, Dachigam Nallah, Nallah Sindh/SE Canal and other sources has hampered operations at the Water Treatment Plants at Doodhganga, Alusteng, Nishat and Padshahibagh. As a result, the supply from these plants will remain affected until conditions normalise.

The department has appealed to residents to use water judiciously and avoid wastage, stating that while efforts are being made to restore normal supplies, full restoration is expected to take a few days.

For emergencies, the public has been asked to contact the PHE Provincial Control Room, which remains functional round the clock. Landline numbers 0194-2477207 and 0194-2452047 and WhatsApp numbers 9419413914 and 9419413915 have been made available for assistance.
