KISHTWAR, AUGUST 22: A Public Hearing for environmental clearance of Dulhasti Stage-II H.E. Project was conducted under the aegis of the J&K Pollution Control Committee, Divisional Office Kishtwar today at the project site, Village Benzwar.
The hearing was held under the Chairmanship of Additional Deputy Commissioner Pawan Kotwal and attended by Assistant Commissioner (Revenue), Idrees Lone; Convener of the Public Hearing (DO JKPCC Kishtwar), Dr. Mohan Snehi; BDO Kishtwar (Member), Sanjeev Kotwal; Head of Project, Dulhasti Power Stage-II, Suresh Kumar and Representative of Executive Engineer (Member) PDD, Rohit Sharma, along with officers and officials of different departments and the National Hydro Power Corporation Ltd. (NHPC).
The Public Hearing commenced with opening remarks by Angrez Singh, Representative of J&K PCC, who highlighted the requirement of Public Hearings under the EIA Notification, 2006, issued by MoEF&CC, Government of India.
Representatives of NHPC explained the project features and benefits to the participants.
During the interactive session, members of the public raised their concerns and queries regarding the project. The ADC Kishtwar and Head of Project, Dulhasti Stage-II, responded.
Majority of participants appreciated the Government of India for bringing such a development project to their area, acknowledging its potential for employment generation and business opportunities.
They urged the District Administration and Project Authorities to give priority to unemployed youth of project-affected villages once construction begins.
The programme concluded with a Vote of Thanks delivered by Divisional Officer, PCC Kishtwar Dr. Mohan Snehi.
