BHADERWAH, JUNE 25: A crucial meeting of the Sub-District Level Narco Coordination Centre (NCORD) Committee was held today under the chairmanship of Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) Bhaderwah, Sunil Bhutyal at the ADC Office Chamber. The meeting was convened to assess the current strategies and reinforce collaborative efforts to combat the growing challenge of drug abuse and illicit trafficking in the region.
The meeting witnessed participation from key departments including police, health, education, excise and social welfare among others. Officers deliberated on the need for a multi-pronged approach involving enforcement, rehabilitation, and community awareness. ADC Bhaderwah stressed the importance of targeting vulnerable groups, especially youth, through awareness drives in educational institutions and community engagement programs.
Among the officials present were the Divisional Forest Officer, Block Development Officer, Child Development Project Officer, Accounts Officer BDA, Tehsil Social Welfare Officer and Zonal Physical Education Officer. The ADC highlighted the role of grassroots-level coordination and the importance of involving Panchayati Raj Institutions and civil society in preventive efforts.
The meeting concluded with actionable directives for all departments to intensify vigilance, ensure timely reporting of drug-related incidents, and collaborate on awareness campaigns under the NCORD mechanism. Emphasis was also placed on setting up counseling cells, strengthening rehabilitation support and promoting sports and extracurricular activities to keep youth positively engaged.
