Family alleges anti-patient behaviour of Doctors at DH Handwara
Srinagar, Oct 10 : After doctors at District Hospital Handwara suggested a pregnant lady to approach Baramulla hospital for advanced cure and treatment, she however deliver a baby on way after which family alleged doctor for “anti-patient” behaviour.
Reports reaching said that Rubeena Begum Wife of Hafeez Ahmad Malik resident of Kalaroos Kupwara was nine month pregnant after which her family members took her to local PHC where from doctors on duty referred the lady to District Hospital Handwara.
Family members told KNS that after reaching DH Handwara, doctors on duty though investigated her but alleged doctors misbehaved with the patient and dubbed him lower class titles.
“The doctors at DH Handwara first showed non-seriousness towards patient but after some time they in a hurry mode, superficially treated the patient and used rough language by saying you can’t understand as you people are Gujjars (tum samajh nahi sakoge kyunki tum log Gujjar ho)”, husband of the lady Hafeez Ahmad told KNS.
He said doctors at DH Handwara shifted my wife in a critical condition to Baramulla hospital, however I managed an ambulance and took my wife to Baramulla for advanced cure and treatment. He said however on way she delivered a baby with the assistance of a technician Sajad Ahmad Khan who was with us since DH Handwara.
Hafeez said it was our good luck that I got ambulance on time otherwise my wife and newborn would have died if there had been any delay in managing vehicle.
He appealed authorities to take strong cognizance of dereliction of duties by authorities at DH Handwara so that such instances would be stopped forthwith.
Meanwhile Civil Society Handwara also expressed anger over the incident and demanded exemplary action against the involved persons. They also demanded immediate transfers of doctors and paramedics in DH Handwara and alleged they have not been transferred since years as they are backed by few influential persons.
When KNS contacted Medical Superintendent DH Handwara Dr Nisar Ahmad, he said he will look into the matter and those found responsible wouldn’t go unpunished. (KNS)
