Nidae KashmirSHOPIAN, OCTOBER 10:-Advisor to Lieutenant Governor, KK Sharma today visited the Mega Fruit Mandi Aglar Shopian and reviewed the developmental works there. He was accompanied by District Development Commissioner Shopian, Chaudhry Mohammad Yasin, SSP Shopian, Amritpal, Director Industries, MD Sicop, Chief Agricultural Officer, Chief Horticulture Officer, Manager Industries, Police & other Civil Officers.
During his visit to Mandi Fruit Growers Association, Traders and Civil Society members met the Advisor. During the interaction, the President Fruit Growers Association, Mohammad Ashraf appraised the Advisor of the main issues and demands which they face like protection Bund, Macadamization of approach road, freely ply of fruit trucks on National highway and other hardships. Civil Society members and others also put forth their genuine demands for early settlement.
The Advisor listened to their issues and initiatives patiently raised during interaction, and assured that all their issues would be looked into seriously and for early redressal in a time bound manner. With regard to de-congest the traffic on national highway and Mughal road etc., the Advisor said that the matter would be streamlined on priority basis. Advisor said that the main aim of the visit is to develop the Mega Fruit Mandi. He also visited and reviewed the functioning of various units including Orchard fresh cold chain pvt. Ltd, Green Valley estates and Firdous Cold Storage Aglar Shopian etc. And directed for close scrutiny of the proposals being submitted by various aspiring interpreters and big industrial units so that the viability of these can be maintained. Advisor asked for taking further steps to make the system most successful during the ongoing fruit season and emphasized on working hard and making an effort towards doubling the farmers’ incomes.
The Advisor urged Fruit Growers, Traders and other people of the Mega Fruit Mandi Aglar and Industrial Estates to ensure social distancing and follow all necessary protocols laid down by the Govt.
He directed the concerned officers to promote income generated activities more and more as well as to attract the young entrepreneurs towards Hi-tech farming ventures so that youth can come forward and get themselves benefited by establishing such units. Advisor also directed the concerned officers to evict the units that have not taken any effective steps till date after following the due procedure.
He directed the Officers concerned of the Industries and Commerce Department to take all necessary steps and maintain close coordination with each other for early compilation of developmental activities. During his visit to Industrial Estates Aglar, the Advisor emphasized upon quality of the apple production to make them more competitive.
DDC on the occasion, briefed the Advisor about various developmental issues taken in this behalf like installation of power supply, portable drinking water, better road connectivity and other developmental works going on in the Mandi and said that Executing Agencies have been geared up to fill the gap created due to COVID-19 and said that additional men & Machinery have been pressed into service for completion of works within stipulated time frame. He said that District Administration is on its toes for rapid restoration of all developmental works for making the Mega fruit Mandi Aglar more and more functional and said that it is one of the single largest Mandi in Kashmir.
