Aga Syed Hasan demands release of Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, other incarcerated religious clerics

Budgam, July 10 : Renowned cleric and president Anjuman Shari Shian, Aga Syed Hasan Almosvi Alsafvi Monday demanded the immediate release of Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and other incarcerated religious clerics.

While addressing a press conference in Central Kashmir’s Budgam district, he said Friday congregational prayers take place in every mosque and shrine but Jamia Masjid in Srinagar is frequently locked up.

“Mirwaiz Umar Farooq should be released so that he can perform his religious duties. The pulpit of Jamia Masjid is silent. I condemn the frequent closure of this historic mosque,” he said.

Aga Syed Hasan as per the news agency Kashmir News Trust said that besides Mirwaiz Umar Farooq all other incarcerated religious leaders should be freed. “I condemn the arrest of religious and other leaders,” he added. [KNT]
