Al-Badr militant killed in Tral, Was given chance to surrender, but refused: Police

Srinagar, September 24: An Al-Badr militant was killed in a gunfight with government forces in Machoma Tral area of South Kashmir’s Awantipora on Thursday.

A senior Police officer told GNS that in the initial exchange of firing one militant of Al-Badr identified as Irfan Ahmad Dar resident of Gadikal was killed. He had joined the outfit on 20th August this year.

The police officer further said that a civilian was brought to the encounter site to persuade the hiding militant, however, he refused to surrender.

Earlier, According to the reports reaching GNS, a joint team of Police and Army’s 42 RR launched a cordon-and-search-operation in Machoma Tral.

As the joint team encircled the suspected spot, the hiding militants fired upon them. The fire was retaliated by the joint team, triggering off an encounter.(GNS)
