POONCH, DECEMBER 23: An impactful Anti-Drug Awareness Campaign was organized by the students of Government Degree College, Poonch in the College Auditorium. Deputy Commissioner Vikas Kundal was the Chief Guest.
In his address, the chief guest emphasized that drug abuse is a global challenge that transcends borders, cultures, and socioeconomic backgrounds. He stated, “This menace undermines the very fabric of society, tearing apart families, eroding trust, and robbing individuals of their potential.” He called for collective efforts by every member of society, highlighting that the fight against drug abuse is not just a matter of policy and enforcement, but a shared responsibility.
The DC underscored the critical role of awareness and education in combating drug abuse. “Awareness and understanding empower individuals to make informed choices,” he said, urging educational institutions, community organizations, and families to implement comprehensive drug education programs. It will ensure that youth are equipped with the knowledge and resilience to make healthy choices.
SP Operations Sachin Gupta also addressed the gathering, stressing the importance of supporting law enforcement agencies in their mission to bust the drug trafficking networks. He stated, “Community engagement is the bedrock of any successful anti-drug campaign,” and encouraged everyone to become advocates and allies in this vital battle.
ADC Poonch Tahir Mustafa Malik, DSWO Wakeel Ahmed Bhat and District State Taxes Officer Qurat Ul Ain also shared insights on the dangers of drug abuse and the collective efforts required to eradicate it.
