Budgam, Apr 23,: Locals of Parisabad village of Central Kashmir’s Budgam district are up in arms against the district administration for not acting against a brick kiln owner who is busy constructing a new brick kiln in the village throwing all government rules to winds.
Locals told news agency Kashmir News Trust that despite clear cut directions from the district administration that no brick kiln construction will be allowed in the district, work on a new brick kiln is going on without any hindrance in Parisabad village of Budgam.
Locals said that mushrooming of brick kilns in Budgam poses a serious threat to agricultural land and health.
“We brought the matter into the notice of District Administration. The top officials issued demolition order, but still, the brick kiln is intact for the reasons known to the administration especially lower-rung officials,” said a local to KNT.
They said villagers several times complained that they like other victims will suffer from shortness of breath, liver diseases, and other respiratory complexities due to black smog oozing out from this brick kiln.
“A top official imposed a fine of Rs 50,000 against the said brick kiln owner instead of demolishing it. We will suffer badly if the administration won’t act and demolish it without any delay,” they said. (KNT
