The 5-day Integrated Communication and Outreach Programme (ICOP) and multimedia exhibition organised by Central Bureau of Communication (CBC) to celebrate 9 Years of Government concluded at Srinagar today. The ICOP was held at Govt SP Higher Secondary School.

Lt. Governor UT of J&K Sh Manoj Sinha was the chief guest for the concluding programme of the exhibition. Additional Director General Press Information Bureau (PIB) and CBC Chandigarh Sh Rajinder Chaudhry, Joint Director CBC J&K and Ladakh Sh Ghulam Abbas, Joint Director PIB Srinagar Sh Qazi Salman and Deputy Director CBC Jammu Ms Ayushi Puri were also present on the occasion.

Addressing the gathering, LG Sinha congratulated CBC for successful completion of the programme. He said that in the last 9 years, India has undergone a sea change if we speak of the economic, political and social scenario of the country. He said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership has been decisive and path breaking during the period and the effect of that is being felt by the citizens of the country today.

The LG said that earlier the perception about India was that it is a rich land inhabited by poor people, but this has changed now and India has emerged as a land from which the whole world has expectations. He said that India is the only land in this world which offers new hope and new aspirations.

Sh Sinha said that there was a time when the economy of India was considered to be fragile, but today it is the fifth largest economy in the world. He added that leaders from around the globe today look up to PM Modi for guidance and advice. He said that India set an example in the recent times by successfully implementing the largest vaccination drive in the world during the Covid epidemic. He added that India has the skill and manpower to tackle any problem and provide guidance to others.

Talking about change and development in J&K, the LG said that hartal calls are a thing of the past and now schools, colleges and business establishments work peacefully and normally for 365 days of the year. He said that development is not possible without peace and the people of the UT are reaping the benefits of this peace. Sh Sinha said that the development of J&K has been among the top priorities of PM Modi since he first came to power in 2014.

The LG highlighted the rapid transformation taking place in the UT of J&K under the guidance of the Hon’ble Prime Minister. He said that J&K has already witnessed investment to the tune of Rs 25,000 crore and investment proposals worth Rs 90,000 crore are in the pipeline.

Sh Sinha also said that under the Jal Jeevan Mission, every household in J&K will have access to tap water by the end of this financial year. He said that all these things have only been possible because of the strenuous efforts of PM Modi.

Addressing the students present at the function, the LG said that the younger generation are the future leaders of the country and they should work hard to achieve their dreams and also come up to the expectations that the nation has from them. He said that the revolutionary National Education Policy, under the guidance of Hon’ble Prime Minister has the potential to change the future of the country.

On the occasion, the LG also visited the stalls installed by various departments highlighting the numerous initiatives and welfare programs of the government.

Earlier delivering the welcome address, Sh Chaudhry said that facts are speaking for themselves when we talk about the change that has taken place in the country during the last nine years. He said that crores of people have benefitted from the various schemes that have been launched for the benefit and upliftment of the masses including the downtrodden and neglected classes.

The 5-day exhibition showcased the achievements of the government of India during the last nine years and traced the journey of Seva, Sushasan and Garib Kalyan, Mission Life and G20 Presidency through a series of photo exhibits, audio-visual aids and informative standees.

Senior officers of civil administration, police, CBC, teachers, students and youth in large numbers were present on the occasion.
