Kulgam: The Nehru Yuva Kendra (NYK) Anantnag, under the Ministry of Youth Affairs, Government of India, successfully concluded a two-day Cluster of Block Sports Tournament at Sports ground Yaripora Kulgam Kashmir.The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from various youth clubs across the district.
The tournament featured multiple sports events, including Volleyball, 100-meter race, Shot Put, Kho-Kho, Skipping, and Badminton, providing a platform for young athletes to showcase their talent and competitive spirit.
Mr Abdul Khaliq Ahanger former trade union leader and prominent social activist graced the occasion as the Chief Guest, alongside , Principal Green Valley Educational Institute, Principal New Horizon Institute of Education and Irshad Hussain Mir Physical Education Teacher attended as Special Guests. Mr Khursheed Ahmad a prominent Social Worker was also present to encourage the participants. The dignitaries distributed prizes among the winning teams and outstanding performers.
Speaking on the occasion, Chief Guest Shri Abdul Khaliq Ahanger emphasized the importance of sports in shaping youth and promoting national integration.
He urged young athletes to actively participate in sports and contribute to India’s presence on the global sports map. He lauded NYK’s efforts in channelizing youth energy in a positive direction and fostering a culture of fitness, sportsmanship, and traditional village games.
The tournament successfully achieved its objective of providing a platform for rural youth to exhibit their talent while promoting sports culture, discipline, and physical fitness among the younger generation.
