BARAMULLA, FEBRUARY 05: The Deputy Commissioner (DC) Baramulla, Mohammad Aijaz today convened a meeting to review the implementation of the Forest Rights Act (FRA) here.
On the occasion, a comprehensive discussion on different aspects of the act was held wherein the concerned officers of Forest, Revenue, and Rural Development Department briefed the DC about the current status and other related necessities with regard to its implementation at a grassroots level.
After taking a thorough review, the DC stressed adopting a coordinated approach for its effective implementation.
He underlined the need of disseminating awareness at the grassroots level and directed ACD Baramulla to formulate a viable mechanism so that appropriate measures are taken to provide necessary awareness at the Panchayat level more especially in remote and inaccessible areas.
The DC emphasized upon the concerned departments to work with added zeal for getting the desired results within the fixed time frame. He also exhorted to work in close coordination with Forest Rights Committees (FRCs) that have been constituted for the purpose.
Among others, ADC Baramulla, ADC Sopore, SDMs, ACD, BDOs, officers from the forest department, district and sectoral officers, and concerned functionaries were present on the occasion.
