The event was organized in collaboration with NSS Units of the College. The Chief Guest on the occasion was Principal of the College Prof. Dr. Mohammad Hussain Malik while as NSS Programme Offices Dr. Sameer Farooq Parsa and Dr. Bilquees shared the presidium. The entire teaching faculty from different departments attended this event. On the occasion, College students in addition to the NSS Volunteers participated in a debate on drug menace and dwelt at length the ill effects of drug abuse that is spoiling the career of younger generation.

The Programme commenced with the welcome address and Programme highlights by the NSS Programme Officer Dr. Bilquees who is also heading the department of Political Science of the College. Dr. Bilquees in her welcome address explained to the participants particularly the students, how this menace is spreading at a very fast pace in northern Indian states particularly here in Jammu and Kashmir. She stressed upon the role of parents as well as teachers in protecting the youth from falling prey to this life consuming fatal habit of drug addiction.

Speaking on the occasion, NSS Programme officer and Head Department of Environmental Studies Dr. Sameer Farooq Parsa appreciated the initiative highlighting the need for such programmes in current times when Drug addiction in the valley is reaching sky-high. Dr. Parsa said that drug addiction is destroying younger generation of J&K and it is need of the hour to evolve a consensus how to deal with this deadly menace.
In his Presidential address, Principal of the College Prof. Dr. Mohammad Hussain Malik also talked about the growing drug abuse menace in the valley. He stressed that people particularly the students should know that substance abuse can direly ruin the lives of the people who fall into its trap. Dr. Malik also warned the students to stay away from this terrible threat and to educate other young people in their communities about the dangers of drug misuse.
