Baramulla: Authorities have ordered the closure of Gul Motors Warpora Sopore petrol pump, popularly known as DC Point, over alleged violations of standard operating procedures (SOPs) and regulations.

According to an order issued by the Deputy Commissioner Baramulla, a copy of which is with news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), the petrol pump, owned by Mohammad Ashraf Khan of Chinkipora Dangerpora, was found to have violated several regulations, including exceeding the permissible storage limit for Class B petroleum. The District Magistrate’s directive, based on reports from the Additional Deputy Commissioner Sopore and other departments, called for the immediate sealing of the unit.

However, despite clear instructions, allegations have surfaced regarding delays and alleged reluctance on the part of the Tehsildar Dangerpora to enforce the order.

In a brief interaction with select media outlets, the Tehsildar urged journalists not to interfere or exert undue pressure, stating that “the process is ongoing.” However, repeated attempts by KNO to reach the Tehsildar for further clarification went unanswered.

Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) Sopore assured that due action would be taken, confirming that the Deputy Commissioner’s order had been received. “The sub-divisional administration will act accordingly to ensure compliance,” the ADC said.

Notably, the DC Point petrol pump has already ceased operations, but questions remain about the efficacy and responsiveness of the local administration—(KNO)
