Poonch// Literary Activities Committee in collaboration with NSS Unit of Shri Krishan Chander Govt. Degree College Poonch organised Inter-College District Level Declamation Contest on the theme: “Truth & Non-Violence”. In the contest one participant form GDC Mendhar, GDC Surankote and GDC Mandi and GDC Poonch participated. Dr. Jasbir Singh the Principal of the college presided over the function.
The programme was started with National Anthem. Dr. Zakir Hussain Kalis HOD English & Convener Literary Activities Committee presented the welcome address and introduced the topic to the participants. Dr. Mohammed Latief of GDC Poonch, Dr. Aurangzeb Anjum of GDC Mandi, Dr. Ajaz Banday of GDC Mendhar and Dr. Mohammad Ashfaq Mughal of GDC Surankote were the jury members.
Miss Ruchika Sudan student of Semester 3rd was the anchor who conducted the proceedings the event. Miss Faiza Basharat of 5th Semester GDC Poonch fetched 1st Position whereas Miss Samreen Afzal of GDC Surankote and Taiba Khanam of GDC Mendhar bagged 2nd and 3rd Position respectively. The consolation Prize was given to Mr. Riaz Ahmed Mir of GDC Mandi.
Miss Faiza Basharat of 5th Semester GDC Poonch the winner of this event shall also participate at Divisional Level Competition in Govt. College for Women Parade Jammu on 30th of September 2023.
Dr. Jasbir Singh the Principal of the college in his presidential address appreciated the efforts of the Literary Activities Committee, NSS Programme Officers, and students who participated wholeheartedly in the event. He also lays emphasize on the life and philosophy of Gandhi Ji and stressed upon the students community to work selflessly and follow the principles of truth and non-violence and participate wholeheartedly in all the events of curricular and extra-curricular activities. A large number of teaching, non-teaching staff and a large number of students witnessed the programme. The programme concluded with vote of thanks.
