Sgr records the highest seasonal rainfall since 2018; Only two districts Budgam, Kulgam receive normal rainfall
Srinagar, Apr 17 (KNO): Even as Kashmir received frequent rainfall for the past one month, the Jammu and Kashmir have recorded deficient rainfall in the ongoing season, with official data revealing that the Union Territory (UT) has received 128.2 MMS of rainfall till April 14 against an average 200.4 mm rainfall.
However, the official data available with the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) reveals that Srinagar, the summer capital of Jammu and Kashmir has received 51 percent rainfall above normal since March 01-April 14.
According to the data, Jammu and Kashmir have recorded 36 percent deficit rainfall in the ongoing spring season.
Notably, the weatherman has predicted more rains till April 28, saying that the erratic weather conditions would continue till April 28 during which light to moderate rains are expected at isolated places across Jammu and Kashmir.
The data as per KNO correspondent revealed that Srinagar has received 218 MMS of rainfall from March 01-April 14 against an average of 144.1, thus recording 51 percent above rainfall from the normal.
This is the highest seasonal rainfall, Srinagar has received since 2018 as according to the day in 2018, the summer capital has received 109.2 mm rainfall while in 2019 and 2020, it has received 45.3 mm and 63.6 mm rainfall respectively.
According to the data, Jammu and Kashmir recorded 36 percent deficit rainfall in the ongoing month. The data added that seven districts including Anantnag, Bandipora, Doda, Rajouri, Ramban, Reasi, and Shopian have recorded deficient rainfall of 24%, 25%, 55%, 42%, 39%, 52%, and 54% respectively.
Besides Srinagar, Pulwama, Kupwara, and Poonch districts of the Union Territory have recorded excess rainfall. The districts have recorded 12%, 17%, and 10% rainfall respectively above normal.
Ganderbal in central Kashmir as per the data has recorded 102 percent rainfall above normal with figures saying that it has received 318.2 mm rainfall against an average 157.7 mm rainfall. Baramulla in north Kashmir has also received 21 percent rainfall above normal.
The data added that five districts of the Union Territory including Jammu, Kathua, Kishtwar, Samba, and Udhampur have recorded large deficient rainfall from March 01-April 14.
