Man attacked by a group of villagers in Handwara, two arrested

Srinagar, 04 May: A 42-year-old man was gravely injured after a group of people attacked him over some issue at village Humpora of Handwara.

Police claimed that two attackers have been arrested.

According to the family members Khursheed Ahmad Wani was attacked by Saifudin Wani, Ajaz Ahmad Wani, Altaf Ahmad Wani, Tawseef Ahmad Wani, Waseem Ahmad Wani, Bashir Ahmad Dar, Zubair Ahmad Dar on Monday morning leaving him injured badly.

The injured has been admitted to SKIMS Srinagar for emergency treatments.

“The attackers used sharp weapons of iron and wood to assault the victim. After hitting in the head, they beat the victim also. He turned unconscious, had vomiting, and had a deep cut in the head,” said one of the family members.

The murderous assault led to grievous injuries in Khurseed’s head. He was taken to Kralgund Hospital and then to Handwara.

Later on, he was shifted to SKIMS Srinagar for emergency treatment where he was operated on the head in an emergency at SKIMS Soura by the Neuro Surgery section.

“His condition is critical at SKIMS and is fighting for his life,” family members said.

A police officer of the concerned police station told Kashmir Despatch over the phone that an FIR has been registered in this case and two persons have been arrested so far.

“More investigation into the case is underway,” the police officer said.
