‘161 covid patients recover in one day; Rs 3.25 cr disbursed among construction workers;  10059 qtl  free ration provided to BPL families’  

RAMBAN, JUNE 10:  Deputy Commissioner, Mussarat Islam today said that Ramban district has witnessed a sharp decrease in Covid cases with the positivity rate dropping to 3.8% from 8% as recorded  during constant and aggressive testing across the district.

He said that the significant improvement is the result of strict enforcement of Covid safety protocols and other containment measures, including intensive testing and vaccination.

“We hope the positivity rate will decline further to below 2% in the next few days, ” he said while addressing media persons at the periodic presser on Covid management, here.

The DC said that against 1536 tests, including 290 RTPCR and 1246 RAT, conducted in one day, 51 persons tested positive, while 161 positive patients were discharged after full recovery.

He informed that the rural COVID Isolation centres established in all 143 Panchayats have been provided medical supplies and 55 centres have also been provided Medical Oxygen Concentrators. For the rest the Oxygen Concentrators will be supplied by Jammu Kashmir Medical Supplies Corporation very soon.  This facility has been created especially for the Covid positive patients in rural areas who lack a separate room and toilet facility in their home, said the DC while urging the people to use these facilities to contain the spread of Covid infection.

The DC said that since March 1, the district recorded 3377 positive cases, of which 2950 recovered, 428 are still active and 36 others lost the battle.

The DC said that  Rs 1.68 crore @ Rs 1000 each has been released in favour of 16680 registered construction workers as 2nd installment taking the   total amount released  for the two months to Rs 3.25 crore.   He said the financial assistance of Rs.1000 per card holder was transferred through DBT mode in the bank accounts of   beneficiaries registered   with Jammu and Kashmir Building and Other Construction Workers Welfare Board (JKBOCWWB)   in the district to enable them to cope with the impact of second Covid surge on their livelihood.

The DC further informed that till date 10059 qtl free ration has been distributed among BPL families of the district including 8239 qtl in the month of May and 1820 qts during current month till now under Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Yojana (PMGKY).

The DC said that sufficient Medical Oxygen Gas has been stocked in the district and 1500 LPM Medical Oxygen Gas plant would start functioning within days.

The DC said that the door to door vaccination drive has achieved tangible results and progress on vaccination reached saturation by giving the first dose to the whole lot of targeted people. He said the rest target is being cross checked with the migratory population, who are expected to have vaccinated in other districts, and eligible people are coming for the 2nd dose.

The DC said that Rs. 11.5 lakh fine has been realized by the enforcement agencies from SOP violators since March 1, 2021.
