Sopore, 16 April 2024:
In continuation of its efforts to eradicate the menace of drugs from the society, Sopore Police have arrested two drug peddlers and recovered contraband, psychotropic substances and cash from their possession.
A police party of Police Post Bus Stand headed by IC PP Bus Stand SI Basit Ahmad under the supervision of SDPO Sopore Shri. Sarfaraz Bashir-JKPS and SHO PS Sopore Insp. Nissar Ahmad, at a checkpoint at Iqbal Market Sopore, apprehended two persons.
During their search
- 110 grams of contraband charas like substance,
- 50 Tablets of ALPRAZOLAM IP 0.5,
- 192 capsules of SPASMOPROXYVON PLUS and
- cash ₹35000 was recovered from their possession.
On preliminary verification they disclosed their identity as - Jahangir Ahmad Shah S/O Ghulam Muhammad Shah R/O Neharpora Sopore and
- Owais Ahmad Shah S/O Noor Muhammad Shah R/O Neharpora Sopore A/P Batsuma Dangiwacha Rafiabad.
In this connection, case FIR No. 91/2024 under relevant sections of NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Sopore & investigation has been initiated.
Sopore police urges the common masses to give information regarding narcotics or any other crimes to the nearest police establishment or dial 112.
General Public is requested to cooperate with police in curbing the menace of drugs from the society. We reassure the community members that police will act tough against the criminals as per the law.
