Srinagar, May 17 (GNS): Two militants from the Al-Badr outfit were killed in a gunfight in the Khanmoh area of Srinagar, police said on Monday.
“On a specific input of JKP regarding the presence of (militants) in Khanmoh area of Srinagar, a joint cordon and search operation was launched by Police, 50RR and CRPF in the area,” a police spokesman said.
During the search operation, he said, as the presence of militants got ascertained, they were given repeated opportunities to surrender. However, he said, they fired “indiscriminately” upon the joint search party which was retaliated, leading to an encounter.
“In the ensuing encounter, two (militants) were killed and their bodies were retrieved from the site of encounter,” the spokesman said in a statement to GNS.
