Srinagar, April 06 (GNS): Traffic authorities on Tuesday ordered that no vehicular movement shall be allowed from either side on the Jammu-Srinagar highway on Wednesday in view of inclement weather prediction issued by the meteorological department for the next few days.
“On 07-04-2021, no vehicular movement shall be allowed from either side on Jammu-Srinagar NHW in view of inclement weather prediction issued by MeT department for next few days, there are chances of blocked of the thoroughfare,” a traffic department official said in a statement as per GNS.
Earlier on Tuesday, traffic was suspended on the highway, the only all-weather road connecting Kashmir valley with the outside world, due to landslides triggered by rain at Magarkote near Ramsau. The concerned authorities had pressed into service machines and men to clear the landslides and put through the traffic.
Meanwhile, the Srinagar-Leh highway and Mughal road, connecting Shopian and Poonch districts, also remained closed due to the accumulation of snow.(GNS)
