Sopore,22 April: The Sopore administration, under the leadership of Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) Sopore, recently conducted market checks to ensure the quality and safety of food items being sold to consumers.
The focus of the inspections was on hygiene practices, adherence to food safety regulations, and the overall quality of food products.
The market checking team, comprised of officials from the Food Safety Department, the Revenue Department, and the Consumer Affairs and Public Distribution (CAPD) department, visited various markets in Sopore.
They collected samples of food items, including ghee, packaged drinking water, packaged milk, and ready-to-eat meals, for laboratory testing.
The team also addressed complaints received from consumers regarding certain restaurants in the town.
Shopkeepers found to be violating food safety regulations or maintaining unsanitary conditions were fined. The ADC warned them of stricter penalties for future offenses.
These market checks are a regular initiative undertaken by the Sopore administration to safeguard public health and ensure consumers have access to safe and hygienic food.
